AW Tech Support Tip Of The Month

Problem: When I run AW 3.0 I get an error that states "Unable to find a suitable rendering device" and I know I meet all of the hardware requirements. What's wrong?

Answer: This error usually means that you need to update your video card drivers. Video card manufacturers have the latest drivers for their video cards available for download on their web sites. Download and install the latest drivers for your make and model. If you still get this error Open the "Run" dialog box (Click the Start button on your Windows task bar then Run on the pop up menu) and type in the following. dxdiag.exe then hit the enter key.

After a few moments you will see a program pop up called "DirectX Diagnostic Tool", on the bottom of the window you will see a button that says "Save all information". Click this button and save the DxDiag.txt file to a known location. Then send an email to support@activeworlds.com with the DxDiag.txt file attached stating what the original error was.
