Introducing Active Worlds 4.1
This article is subject to change.

You've been waiting a long time for this! And now, the wait is over! We have released a downloadable copy of the 4.1 browser which you can use to access the 4.1 "preview" universe that we are currently working on transitioning to.

This complex transition requires us to prepare and move all of our large public building worlds. There are a number of other steps to take in order to complete this transition, and we are working hard to do so.

Here are a few highlights of this great new version:

New Interface: The GUI of the browser has been modified so that all of the parts of your browser window are floating and dockable. The interface is streamlined and very customizable.

Object Properties Dialog: The object properties box has been updated to accommodate the dynamic features of 4.1.

Movers: A favorite of many, movers allow a user to create a vehicle of any sort!

Particles: Particle Emitters are a new type of object which create special effects.

Personal Avatar: This feature will allow you to take your own avatar to any world which allows it.

VOIP: Short for Voice Over IP, this feature will enable voice chatting where permitted.

But that's not all! There are tons of improvements to the AW browser in version 4.1. You can learn all about it in the 4.1 help files, located here:

Ready to try it?

NOTE: Installing this downloadable version and accepting the 3.6 automatic upgrade dialog will over-write your 3.6 browser. It is recommended that you specify a different installation directory so you may return to 3.6 until 4.1 is officially implemented.

Go ahead and give it a try! Just open your 3.6 browser and accept the updated version dialog. You may also click the URL below to download the 4.1 browser. Enjoy!
