Relax! You're not the only one who has questions. As an Active Worlds citizen you have a wealth of information at your fingertips with a variety of Active Worlds newsgroups.

Activeworlds hosts several different support newsgroups. Anyone may view the posts and information in these newsgroups; however, to post to the newsgroups you must be a citizen of Active Worlds. The log on process requires you to provide your citizen name and password as part of the process.

How to use the newsgroups:

Please read the following information carefully so that you can gain access and make use of our newsgroups.

The newsgroups now require that you LOG ON to be able to make posts. To log on you must use your Active Worlds Citizen Name and Password. The citizen account must be an ACTIVE one, as expired accounts will not be recognized.

Anyone can gain READ-ONLY access to the Active Worlds newsgroups without logging on.

Below are basic instructions for configuring your Outlook Express or Netscape Communicator Newsreaders to access the Newsgroups. 

Outlook Express

• Select TOOLS from the tool bar, and choose the Option ACCOUNTS from the submenu.
• Click ADD, and then choose NEWS.
• The system will then ask you for your Name and your email address - personalize this information.
• For NNTP server enter news.activeworlds.com
  IMPORTANT! - Check the box that says "My news server requires me to log on". Failure to check this box will make it impossible for you to log on.
• For account name enter your CITIZEN NAME, and for password enter you CITIZEN PASSWORD.
• Now you will be able to choose which groups in the Active Worlds newsgroup family that you would like to subscribe to!

Netscape Communicator

• Select COMMUNICATOR from the tool bar, and choose the option NEWSGROUPS from the submenu.
• Select EDIT from the tool bar, and choose the option PREFERENCES from the submenu.
• Click ADD, which will bring up a window asking you for the news server information.
• For server enter news.activeworlds.com
  IMPORTANT! - Check the box that says "Always use name and password". Failure to check this box will make it impossible for you to log on.
• Now you will be able to choose which groups in the Active Worlds Newsgroup family that you would like to subscribe to!
