AWMix07 News: Talking with Rozmere

AWMix07 News

Getting to know our citizens!

A couple of months ago in AWMix07 we got to know the citizen Rozmere. He hasn't been in AW for long, but has made a huge impact with his humor and amazing photography. Meeting new people and making new friends is what Active Worlds is about for us all. I had a chance to talk to Roz about how he's settling in to AW.

Hello and welcome Roz. Thank you for agreeing to an interview. First let me welcome you to Active Worlds. It's been fun getting to know you.

Roz: Thank you Kiwi it's been fun getting to know you and the other fine people of AW as well.

Kiwi: We all love your work.

Roz: I know.....uh, I mean thanks! Honestly, my most fulfilling reward by far is when others enjoy my artwork.

Kiwi: How did you find out about Active Worlds?

Roz: Well, I knew about Active Worlds for quite a long time now. I had found reference to it in other 3D communities and in lists of 3D communities and kept a side note to myself that I would someday need to investigate, and well, here I am now.

Kiwi: What do you like the most about it?

Roz: Here's where I'm supposed to say something honorable like, "I love the people of course!", and although it's true that I do enjoy the people very much the thing that lured me in was the opportunity to build and that is still (and will remain) very alluring to me. I have been invited to build in AWMix07 by a very kind and generous gentleman named Class 3 and I have taken full advantage of that opportunity in the building of a club that I hope to open very soon. I also help with design and content for another world. But I still feel quite restricted and I will continue to feel like my hands are bound until I can afford my own world, which unfortunately will be a very very long time from now.

Kiwi: What would you like to see added to or changed about AW?

Roz: Oh, as previously hinted at, I wish the world fees and hosting were lower. But I won't go on about that, I understand perfectly well that AW deserves every penny it gets and has to pay for maintenance and so forth in some way. But what seems perfectly affordable to some is pretty much impossible for some of us others.

Note from the editor: Active Worlds world servers start at $10 per year after a one-time $69.95 setup fee. This fee is waived when worlds are won as prizes. Make it an even better deal by bundling your world and citizenship: $90 per year buys you a spacious P-30 world and a citizenship account. Show me more!

Kiwi: Do you have a favorite place you like to hang out with friends?

Roz: AWMix07 is the bomb if you like wonderful happy people, and who doesn't? It's where I've met almost everyone I know in AW and the music isn't half bad either. Aside from that I also LOVE the world "avatar," especially all the really dark, gritty, eerie hidden parts. If you haven't been there or you've been to avatar but never realized what lays under its surface then you are GREATLY missing out! Baro hasn't finished it but what he has finished is awesome!!! But this isn't to say that there aren't other great worlds, too. I suggest everyone take a look at the pretty world "Airglow," a place very familiar to you Kiwi, and if you are an adult check out Shadow's world "DsChakra" which I help out with a little on occasion; it has very beautiful parts and it's well-built. I also like pretty much anything that Earthcritter builds, especially the short Creepy Clown tour, lol. So I guess my interests are pretty well covered in that list - Music, Horror and Adventure, Beauty, and Fun!

Kiwi: Everyone has been talking about your great photos. They really are special. Is this a passion of yours?

Roz: Creating pictures that I hope others will enjoy as much as I do is the driving force of my life and has been since I was a very young child. In AWMix07 I'm a photographer for PKToons.com and I'm pretty happy with that position.

Kiwi: I have always found the Citizens in Active Worlds very friendly and happy to help with advice when you need it. Have you found that since you have been here?

Roz: Yes, for the most part if you need a helping hand people are happy to assist you... except for that Veger guy! Just kidding, Veger is one of the most awesome people I've met here, lol.

Kiwi: It's such a great experience to get to know people from all over the world in here with different cultures and beliefs. What part of the World are you from Roz?

Roz: Originally? Or right now? I live in Arkansas but I was born in New York.

Kiwi: What are you favorite ways to pass time in Active Worlds?

Roz: The worlds have a lot to offer, I don't know what my favorite pastime is. I suppose I enjoy virtual knitting. That's a joke by the way... I hate knitting.

Kiwi: Is this your first virtual world experience?

Roz: No, I first got involved with 3D communities when Adobe Atmosphere was around a long time ago. I loved to build and explore in Atmosphere. In fact one of my friends that I used to explore with there still explores virtual worlds with me to this day and he goes by the name Sablevarg. Back then there were some pretty impressive worlds to visit, and it was the first time I encountered the world "Dark City" which at that time was built by a company called "Ham on Rye." I stumbled upon reincarnations of this world almost in a shocking way in other 3D communities; the latest one I've seen in Blink 3D (a program that I love by the way). But Ham on Rye has now apparently changed its name to "Speedbump Studios." To be honest I am surprised that I have not found a version of it in AW yet.

Anyway, I got a little off subject but the reason I mentioned Dark City was because it had this awesome dark look and feel with hidden things all over the place that we could explore for hours and that's what got me hooked and made me realize that more than anything I wanted to put my creative energy into building 3D environments.

Kiwi: You're on the PKToons team now as photographer which means taking a lot of pictures at events in AW. Do you think you will have a gallery in Active Worlds for others to appreciate your work?

Roz: Well, I have some of my artwork in another world's gallery, and the work I do for PKToons is kinda plastered all over AWMix07 already, but I hope that someday I can afford to have my own world and yes my work will definitely be there. In fact one of the many projects I have planned if such a time came, is to manage an art gallery for people to showcase their work in.

Kiwi: Roz if you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be?

Roz: Virtual Knitter.

Kiwi: Hahahha

Kiwi: Thank you for taking the time to talk to me. It's great to have you as part of the PK Toons team as well as a new friend in Active Worlds.

Roz: Thank you Kiwi, that means a lot to me.
