AW Community Register Goes Virtual

Courtesy of Bille

Since August '98 the AW Community Register has been promoting alive towns, worlds and societies where we all are invited to join in one way or the other. The database is still growing with weekly additions, and currently more than 150 great communities are listed. But this far the listings have been available on the WWW only. Supported by AWCOM, Inc. we now found it's time to move the register to the 3D environment where it belongs!

Very soon you will find yourself walking through the AW ComReg index, located in the world AWCC and to be opened mid April. It will be like going shopping, and while searching what you are looking for, or just checking for news, you'll meet other users sharing your interests. Why not go exploring together?

The area contains 7 streets, each representing a theme. Besides pictures and teleports to the most active communities of AW, we also welcome them to use their booth for local news and advertisements. AW Community Register's Agents will stay in touch with each of the communities, to keep the area updated. While communities listed on the web register must verify their existence only every 6th month, communities promoted in the virtual register will have to confirm twice as often. In this way you hopefully won't have to visit too many "ghost towns" before you find someone at home:)

We have also reorganized the web register, which will still be useful since some communities might choose not to be promoted in AWCC, and the web posts will contain contact information and some historical information that you will not find in AWCC.

But the area in AWCC will offer so much more; General community news, a cinema showing updated slide shows from some of the promoted communities, cafés, games, and much more. We also hope to present new objects and textures. It will be a place to hang out even if you are not looking for a new community to join every day:) We plan to update the location often, and we will of course appreciate to hear what YOU would like to find there.

Communities that are currently on the web register will be mailed in order to reserve a booth in AWCC. If your world, town or society is not yet registered, you are welcome to do so by submitting the web form available from our web site. Remember to register before April 10th to make sure your community gets a booth in time for the grand opening!:)

Date and time for the opening will be announced both on AW Community Register's main page and on AWEC's events calendar.
