In this issue you will find stories about recent past events and present ones as well as possible future events. Wow, that should cover just about everything, aye. So first up, the recent past. The results are in from the EBTS (extreme builders' talent show). There was a good turn out: around 44 folks all in all. Be sure check out the B.O.M. page (that's build of the month page.) For the details.

Fuzzy has some nice interviews, this time around with Ciena and OzySEO; be sure check out what they had to say. Also in the present and future event category we have OzySeo's Physics yard project. This is a community effort he has put together to show examples of what can be done. A fair few people have begun work on their lots. Contact OzySEO today to get more information and grab a lot your self, or just visit and learn a few new tricks from the displays.

Let us see, next up, a mention about our resident culinary expert. Joe, it would seem has been bitten once again with the travel bug. So while he is away exploring new lands and recipes, we have our first guest chef, one Ms Cablecar Gal. Be sure to check out the yummy delights she has created.

Check out the Newbie page for a lively interview with Kenny McC for updated information on the AWSchool. And check out Building Tips for tips on rotating objects, great information to help the builder get all those edges lined up. Last but not least, you will find a nice selection of textures for your free use on the garden page. Be sure read the letter from Mr. Crabtree, as it seems he is looking for gardeners.

Well that about sums up the issue we hope you enjoy it and find it of use. Oh and be sure scroll down read the letter from the editor.

Aunt Trudy

Aunt Trudy

Greetings sweeties:

Aunt Trudy here with more information and intriguing tidbits.

First off I'd like to wish Lord Albert Pippin and his sidekick, one Sammy Star, good fortune on their travels around Yellow; they will be looking for a good location to hold the upcoming Airship Building Contest and Cross World Race. This event should be very exciting. Please contact Apooka and or Ozman by telegram or email to the Y.G. (yellowgazette@cox.net) to share your thoughts on this purposed event. And keep an eye out for the boys, just in case they run into trouble out there.

Oh yes, and be sure check out the garden page. Rumor has it Mr. Crabtree has a bee in his bonnet over a new garden project. I'm not sure what it's all about, but you can find more info on this flowery event on the garden page. Also be sure to check out the new selection of free textures for your building needs.

I've heard that OzySEO has built a fantastic dance hall at the AWschool, and had over 25 people dancing the night away recently. He's prolific, this guy.

Aunt Trudy provides news and, well, gossip from Yellow citizens. If you have something you want in the Gazette, just contact yellowgazette@cox.net

Chickens and roads

Here's part of a canonical list. Enjoy.

  • Jerry Seinfeld: Why does anyone cross a road? I mean, why doesn't anyone ever think to ask, "What the heck was this chicken doing walking around all over the place anyway?"
  • Oliver Stone: The question is not "Why did the chicken cross the road?" But is rather, "Who was crossing the road at the same time, whom we overlooked in our haste to observe the chicken crossing?"
  • Darwin: Chickens, over great periods of time, have been naturally selected in such a way that they are now genetically dispositioned to cross roads.
  • Machiavelli: The point is that the chicken crossed the road. Who cares why? The end of crossing the road justifies whatever motive there was.
  • Albert Einstein: Whether the chicken crossed the road or the road moved beneath the chicken depends upon your frame of reference.
  • Buddha: Asking this question denies your own chicken nature.
  • Ernest Hemingway: To die. In the rain.
  • Thomas de Torquemada: Give me ten minutes with the chicken and I'll find out.
  • Colonel Sanders: I missed one?
  • New York Chicken: Hey! I'm walkin' here!
  • Plato: For the greater good.
  • Karl Marx: It was a historical inevitability.
  • Timothy Leary: Because that's the only kind of trip the Establishment would let it take.
  • Douglas Adams: Forty-two.
  • Nietzsche: Because if you gaze too long across the Road, the Road gazes also across you.
  • Douglas Adams: Forty-two.
  • Aristotle: To actualize its potential.
  • Mark Twain: The news of its crossing has been greatly exaggerated.
  • Salvador Dali: The Fish.

Letter from the Editor

Dear reader

We the staff of the Yellow Gazette would like to clear a few things up. First, this publication is not done on any set release date due to a few different factors.

As of late, first up, we have had numerous technical difficulties, something I think everyone can relate to. So enough said; we are not pointing fingers or blaming anyone; these things just happen to us all. This is not an excuse but an offer of explanation.

Next, the staff is spread out far and wide around the world. We are all in different time zones - some vastly different; for one of us it might be 8am while the other is 8pm . Not to mention we all have other life obligations like jobs, homes, and families to deal with. So sorting out all this takes a bit of luck and management. In all we do the very best we can when we can.

And well, have you ever tried to get a bunch of bears to work on a set time schedule?? Well have you?? But all kidding aside, our intention was to give a gift to the ActiveWorlds citizens, hopefully with a ration of usable information that helps enhance your AW experience, to be useful and help inform as best we can.

But for us above all, it started out as being about the humor. Something we hope others enjoy reading and seeing as much as we did and do creating it. So I hope this clears up a few facts.

So we pledge only this: to do the best we can when we can.

Sincerely
The Yellow Gazette Staff

To the top.
