31 Days of Halloween!

October is the month of Halloween. Over the past 4 years the YG has sponsored the Yellow Halloween Ball, and to lead up to that great event, the staff have developed many interesting, eerie, and downright spooky areas and games that are open for your enjoyment. Start your journey at the Echo Meadow Village (coords Yellow 150.29s 1696.89e 0.05a 266).

There are boat rides through misty caves -- careful of the monsters in those! And for a bit of fun, there is Aunt Rue's scavenger hunt inside the town hall, as well as links to many other great Halloween sites that AW citizens have made over the years. Do visit the Lakeview Terrace Sanitarium, but stay away from the basement! If that's a bit tame for you, try walking through the village to 1313 Mockingbird Lane. If you survive that, go across the main road to the haunted hotel. If your nerves can stand it after that, go up the main road and check out Widow's Hill mansion, or have a nice walk through the graveyard.

In the graveyard, be careful what you touch, and beware of Hell's Lobby. It's hard to get out once you get in! The crypts and catacombs have lots of nice things to enhance your heart palpitations, and if you take a nice turn through the catacombs you will come face to spooks in the mad scientist's lab. If you can get out of that in one piece, find the green arrows and follow them to the games area and the Haunted Carnival where more fun awaits. When you have explored all the fun things available, you should be just about ready for the Halloween Ball.

In this Issue:

Steampunk City is featured in this issue, with a marvelous construction by Kirmden in Build of the Month Page. He's a very innovative builder with a wicked sense of humor as you will see. The AW School held its grand reopening party on the 28th, so check out the Build of the Month page for details. Build Tips feature some details relating to server side movers and what to do to make yours work as good as possible. Joe features some great recipes for the colder months coming ahead that will tickle the tastebuds. Nellie offers some nice autumn plants and a variety of textures that will enhance any build.

Fuzzy and the his new apprentice are settling in to a new residence (see Fuzzy Tales). The Academy's boffins provide important info on totem signs and various types of divination. Finally, the Newbies page provides some details on the bears found in Yellowstone. Enjoy the read.

A wish list...

It would be fantastic if we could add textures, scale, color and color tint to models that we want to use as movers. What a difference that would make! Do you have anything you wish for that AW can do for building? And what would you like to see in the AWMall?

Just email the Yellow Gazette and let us know.

Helping out

The YG is standing in for the AW News while it is in recess. If you have any worlds, builds, games, or events you would like to share please let us know. Just email The Yellow Gazette, or telegram Ozman or Apooka. We are happy to help.

Greetings sweeties:

Ms T's poster

Ms T's grand opening of her Magnolia center went brilliantly. She reports lots of people turned up and a good time was had by all.

I have received many letters and inquiries on a range of curiosities and events. So let's start off with the first and perhaps strangest of all. So many of you have written in asking about these mysterious new pump stations popping up along the river network.

Pump Station.

First and foremost, who are the Stymie brothers and where did they come from?. Well, my sweeties, after due diligence this is what I've been able to find out. Oscar and Willie Stymie are the sons of Emily Dormouse and William Stymie the Second. Longtime residents of Old Winter Mountain village. William Stymie has been the longtime manager of the Kringle toy factory. His two sons claim to have found a clean viable green energy. Top-secret however it would seem. (For now sooner or later I'll get the facts!). So far only one of the stations is up and running and from what I've observed it has something to do with trees and the fairies, truly a great concern. So keep those letters and texts rolling in and we will get to the bottom of this yet.

For the past couple of years, everyone has been a bit curious over the identity of these scary characters known as the Echo Meadow boys.

The Echo Meadow Boys.

I, through my great skill and tenacity as a first class investigator, can now reveal that the Echo Meadow Boys are none other than the owners of the Needmore Fish Market.

Needmore Fishmongers

The lads pride themselves on the freshest catches in all of Yellow, but that remains to be seen. Thus far, yours truly hasn't heard any complaints.

Science humor (Honest!)

Here are some brain-ticklers

  • A photon checks into a hotel and the porter asks him if he has any luggage. The photon replies: “No, I'm travelling light.”
  • Is it solipsistic in here, or is it just me?
  • Pavlov is enjoying a pint in the pub. The phone rings. He jumps up and shouts: “Hell, I forgot to feed the dog!”
  • How many surrealists does it take to screw in a light bulb? A fish.
  • There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that know binary, and those that don't.
  • When I heard that oxygen and magnesium hooked up I was like OMg.
  • The barman says: “We don't serve faster-than-light particles here." A tachyon enters a bar.
  • A Buddhist monk approaches a hotdog stand and says: "Make me one with everything".
  • What do you call two crows on a branch? Attempted murder.
  • An Englishman, a Frenchman, a Spaniard and a German are walking down the street together. A juggler is performing on the street but there are so many people that the four men can’t see the juggler. So the juggler goes on top of a platform and asks: “Can you see me now?” The four men answer: "Yes." "Oui." "Si." "Ja."
  • Never trust an atom. They make up everything.
  • How many programmers does it take to change a light bulb? None, it's a hardware problem.
  • A student travelling on a train looks up and sees Einstein sitting next to him. Excited, he asks: "Excuse me, professor. Does Boston stop at this train?"
  • A Roman walks into a bar, holds up two fingers, and says: "Five beers, please."
  • Did you hear about the man who got cooled to absolute zero? He’s 0K now.
  • Jean-Paul Sartre is sitting at a French café, revising his draft of Being and Nothingness. He says to the waitress: "I'd like a cup of coffee, please, with no cream." The waitress replies: "I'm sorry, Monsieur, but we're out of cream. How about with no milk?"
  • A classics professor goes to a tailor to get his trousers mended. The tailor asks: "Euripides?" The professor replies: "Yes. Eumenides?"

From AW School

Kenny McC reports that the AW School is still looking for more people to join them, either as guide or teacher. They have implemented a training program which is very intensive and at the same time allows the trainee to get to "work" instantly after the first class. They are in the process of re-vamping the object yard as it's cluttered around the world. And they are updating the entire world as its not been looked after for 3 years. To join the team at the school, just telegram Kenny McC. And check out the school's new website at awschool.net.

Events in AWReunion

Nurse Mom reports that folks in AWReunion have set up a calendar of events posted thru November at the landing zone there. The Yellow Halloween Ball is on that, as well as AWReunion's costume party on the 26th October. They also hold "tgif" parties every Friday at 5pm vrt.
