Objects d'Active Worlds Opens Up A World Of Treasured Objects

Courtesy of Casay

Have you ever wondered what all those ‘free’ objects really look like? Now you can look before you download. There’s a new world: Objectd’. It’s a companion world to the Objects d’ Active Worlds web site and has all the objects from the site and more. It officially opens on Saturday, December 2nd at 3pm VRT.

Daphne, Lady Bunny and I have spent the last few weeks creating this new resource for world owners. All the objects from the site are there and many have been fixed too! Some of the objects from the Updates page can be found around ground zero for a quick look. Teleport signs are in those same areas if the object(s) is too large. We will also be adding new updates and objects from other free objects sites over time so come back often. Links will be provided to those other sites right at the object.

I’m also pleased to announce that Wascally Wabbit, one of the original creators of the Objects d’AW has graciously donated more of his objects. Several have been added to the Updates page already and look forward to even more being added over a period of time.

We are developing an area that contains example builds of some object sets. When we can, we are having the original object creator come in and build it for us. We can’t think of a better way to assure that a set is built like it was originally intended to be. Something else we have planned for the future is to showcase objects and their creators. We have a couple areas around ground zero for this and we’ll add to it soon.

We are suggesting to those that have slower PC’s to lower their visibility to 40 meters. We have spread things out as much has possible. Some of the objects are large and may cause lag for some. Most of the objects were created for AW version 2.2 so keep that in mind when viewing them. If an object doesn’t render for you please contact me directly and let me know what version of AW you are running. We’ll do our best to fix those problems when we can. Until we have time to fix them we’ll place signs near objects that have already been identified. Please look for those signs before contacting me.

So you know, many of the objects in the world have strict licensing limitations and usage restrictions. It is up to the individual to determine and meet those requirements. We are providing other's free objects as a courtesy and with permission. We are not responsible for maintaining those objects nor can we guarantee they will remain available. If your free site is already included on the Links page I'll be contacting you about adding your objects. If you'd like to have your free objects site added to the Links page please contact me with the information and URL.

We hope this becomes a great resource for everyone and that you come back often. If you have something you’d like to donate please use the submit button on the Objects d’AW site. Please include the poly/vert info, scale info and a screen shot of the object (s).

Thanks again to Daphne and Lady Bunny for all their hard work in creating this world. I’d also like to thank AW for contributing the world and server space so we were able to bring about this great new resource for all. Visit us often!

Enjoy!
Casay
