Get to Know Your Neighbors!

We think it would be great if everyone got a chance to get to know some of the volunteers in the community and to find out why they love AW so much.

This month we meet Red Satin who may be better known to some as Peacekeeper 22.

PK Safety Tip: It is better to mute and block than to attempt to continue a chat with an abusive person.

This month the Peacekeeper profiled is RedSatin o, Peacekeeper 22.

RedSatin o went to a chat program called V-chat several years ago. It had avatars and she made lots of friends there. One of them was also an ActiveWorlds user who told her about AW and took her there. From that moment on she was hooked. This was in August of 1997. She became a citizen in March 1998.

RedSatin o applied to become a Peacekeeper in December of 2001, entered the PK Academy (PKA) in January 2002 and later graduated. When asked why she joined the Peacekeepers she said, "I joined because I wanted to do something useful, to help the community and all the people who visit there. I was a Gatekeeper for over 3 years and when I resigned from that program I wanted to do something different. I've seen PK's at "work" and I liked what they were and still are doing and I wanted to be a part of that. I like helping out people and being able to try and resolve problems and get people to talk again with each other. It’s a great program and it’s a great way to spend my time online."

She is what the PK's call a floater and doesn’t have a set time to go on patrol. She just jumps in and patrols when she can.

RedSatin o is also a Trainer in PKA. Her job is to prepare the Trainee for the Ground Zero patrol simulations that come at the end of training in PKA. Once the Trainee is prepared, she leads the simulation, which includes other PK Trainers who play chatters and mischief-makers (and are they very good at it).

She is active in other AW related activities she recently helped out at AWCamp 2003 as a counselor and will soon be a host in AWBingo. Last year, she helped out with the CY awards as security and is helping with the CY awards this year as well.

ALexander o and RedSatin o own a world called Mir@ge but it is not running at the moment. She hopes to get it back up again soon. Unfortunately, it is only accessible to citizens. When asked about her builds in AlphaWorld she responded, "I have several builds in AlphaWorld but I have lost the coordinates to them and need to find them again. lol"

She has a life outside of her interests in AW. She loves to play music and played in a Drum and Bugle Corps for 16 years. She played several instruments during those years including snare drum and a mellophone (which is a brass instrument for those who haven't heard of it). She has also been a Color Guard (a group of guys and gals who throw flagpoles, rifles and sabers in the air and do dances to the music the band plays) and finally, a Drum Major for several years. She likes to read books and play games on PS2 and on the PC.

Her message to the Citizens and Tourists of AW is: "Everyone should enjoy AW to its fullest. Visit all those wonderful worlds, see how awesome all those builds are. Play games, make friends and always keep smiling. :)"
