Activeworlds SURVIVOR Challenge IV: Moon Marooned

The AW SURVIVOR Challenge IV: Moon Marooned is approaching faster than you might expect! The organizers of the Activeworlds SURVIVOR Challenges expect the latest installment to the incredibly popular series to be the best yet!

The AW SURVIVOR Challenge series pits normal AW citizens against each other in a high-stakes competition for valuable prizes and the title of being the ultimate survivor! The AW SURVIVOR Challenge III: Mysterious Depths on June 9 attracted over 80 participants, with the winner walking away with a free world. The challenge is loosely based on the CBS television shows, with tribal assignments and immunity challenges. In the online version, wrist fatigue is your greatest enemy, and mastery of interpersonal relations is the most important attribute of a winning player.

The challenge will begin at 1PM VRT on Saturday, September 15, 2001. Because of the possibility for cheating by investigating the set in advance, the space-themed set for Moon Marooned is currently under construction in the closed world Iguadon, and will not be moved to its final location in AWTeen until after September 14’s AW History Tournament. With over 800 unique objects, special commands and special objects enabled for everyone, a larger cell data limit and light radius, a real-time weather simulator with over 160,000 possible modes, and a variety of other features, AWTeen isn't just for teens anymore and offers a great place to meet some new friends during the challenge! Coordinates will be announced in AWTeen's welcome message a half hour prior to the event.

Unlike previous challenges, immunity challenges will be open to everyone, including those voted out of the tribes early in the game or spectators just stopping by later in the day. While latecomers aren't eligible to win prizes, they can act as spoilers for the other contestants. These challenges will be space-themed, and haven't even been revealed yet (the events list on the website below will change prior to the event), but expect some pleasant surprises!

Brant, who organized the original AW SURVIVOR Challenge on September 23, 2000, and who collaborated with Nornny on the second challenge, will be returning to the events scene to organize Moon Marooned. Magine, who spent hours developing bots to control the third challenge, will return as well to improve her software for this latest endeavor. All-around "expert" Nornny, while declining to head the current challenge, will be attending and offering his input in game design. AW staff member and extraordinarily kind person Mountain Myst has also agreed to help kick off the festivities.

You'd better watch out, because another AW staff member has agreed to play "incognito" in the challenge - you'll never know who's scheming against you! And don't worry - two-time winner XelNaga has sworn that he will be taking a break, at least for this round :)

The prizes for the latest round will be the biggest ever offered for a SURVIVOR challenge, and will include several citizenship extensions or bot limit increases, free advertisements at various points in the AW universe including AWTeen's welcome message and ground zero, a free p-20/10 world for six months, and our newest offering - free AW T-shirts. Even the runners up will be rewarded, and there will be a random drawing in which all participants are entered, so you don’t have to survive long to win a prize!

The history of previous challenges, a schedule of events, a full prize listing, and more information can be obtained at http://awteen.awlife.net/survivor.html.
