ActiveWorlds 2004 Reunion
August 12th-15th

It's reunion time at last! In less than a month AW citizens and friends will be gathering at the Colorado Belle in Laughlin, Nevada for this year's Activeworlds Reunion.

You might think of Laughlin, Nev., as Las Vegas Lite. Same great winter weather, but less filling. More than five million visitors every year come to this oasis of perfect weather which offers great gaming, golf, water sports and hiking. A magnet for travelers throughout the Southwest Laughlin visitors tout the proximity of the water and the availability of water taxis (which shuttle people from one casino to another) as one of the town's best features.

Laughlin's "strip" is only a few blocks long and contains nine casinos, but let's face it, when you've seen one slot machine, you've seen them all. There is no tawdry side to Laughlin and the scenery around Laughlin borders on beautiful. In fact, you might say it would be beautiful if it weren't for all those casinos.

We have a wide range of organized activities planed for the Reunion. They include a road trip to historic Oatman, AZ, a paddle wheel dinner cruise on the Colorado River, a slot tournament with cash prizes, a banquet dinner and a champagne brunch on Sunday before we depart for home.

In addition to the planned events there a variety of other attractions for Reunion attendees to choose from. The following is a listing of a few.

Lake Mohave. Located between the Hoover and Davis Dams and a short drive from Laughlin, the lake's 237 miles of shoreline, plus the area's usually sunny weather, provide ample opportunity for boating, swimming, scuba diving, fishing or just relaxing on the beach.

Boating on the Colorado. Hotels offer Jet Ski rentals, and there are daily boat trips up the Colorado River to the London Bridge located in Lake Havasu, AZ.

Helicopter Tours. Scenic helicopter tours of the Colorado River, Lake Mohave and the Davis Dam area.

Don Laughlin's Car Collection. Don Laughlin, owner of the Riverside Resort Hotel and Casino and an avid car enthusiast, has more than 85 cars from his personal collection on display.

Emerald City Golf Course. Enjoy a day of golf at this beautiful 18-hole par 72 course that is set amid foot hill landscapes along the awesome Colorado River. It has a U.S.G.A. rating of 73.60 and slope of 144.

Grapevine Canyon. Located less than 10 miles from Laughlin visitors come to this canyon in the Nevada desert to view its Indian petroglyphs, some of the first known to man. Truly amazing sites, many of the etchings go 40 to 50 feet below the sand level and are hundreds of years old. A few of the more common ones have been translated but the rest remain a mystery.

As I mentioned we will also be visiting Oatman which is one of the most popular sites in the region and located along famous Route 66, Oatman is a historic gold mining town born in 1906 as a tent camp for miners. It is 18 miles southeast of Bullhead City on Highway 95 and up Boundary Cone Road into the Black Mountains. Oatman offers visitors quaint shops, restaurants and saloons with live entertainment. Town landmarks include the wild burros that roam the streets looking for handouts and a friendly pat and also the Oatman Gunfighters who stage showdowns and shootouts on the town's main street - Route 66. The town hosts several events each year including the Annual Bed Races.

If you haven’t made your reservations the dead line has been extended to July 30th. For more information please check out our web site.
