New in VR5

VR5 was originally opened in 2005 by Darian Knight. He named the world VR5 after the name is his company. I, Neocube v.2 (neocube. at the time) took over the world in 2007 after being informed by Darian that the world was going to be closed. I renewed the world and restarted the work that was done by the old VR5 team, and was joined by a few of the original builders. Because of personal reasons I decided not to renew the world and left Active Worlds a year later.

VR5 Fountain & Citizen Memorial

In early February this year I returned and renewed the world to rebuild the world from scratch with a new theme. Lioness. decided that she wanted to help and asked what she could do. She built a majority of the VR5 GZ. She has done a wonderful job with builds such as an AW memorial for our AW friends who have passed on which is a 9-11 memorial as a tribute to those who died that tragic day, the Citizen Gallery with pictures of some members of AW (which will be updated as new pictures come in), a fountain in which NurseMom and I contributed, as well as a reworked version of the famous Sphinx that she won a Cy Award for, plus many other things.

When the world was renewed, I was using AWPortals for hosting but decided to go with Nursemom's hosting services. She was also kind enough to let VR5 use her object path. She has also helped with building in the world. She created a beach with many movers (ie. Motorcycles, jet skis, a picnic area, moving avatars with fishing poles, surf boards, etc.) She has helped with World Features as well as many other issues in the world. When she is asked to do something whenever she “has the time” she does it right away because she is extremely dedicated. Without her and Lioness., we would be seriously behind schedule. Instead we are ahead of it!

With the citizen gallery expanding daily, with new picture submissions every day, we may have to expand that to even more floors. If you want a picture featured in the citizen gallery, telegram Lioness. or .Neocube., or e-mail .Neocube. We don’t just want to build it and be done with it; we want to keep it updated and never let it die down. We appreciate all that the AW community, the AW family does for us in so many ways that we want to display the people that we chat with, interact with, and have fun with every day! We would also like to thank 2ndchildhood, Modred, SW Chris and many others for sharing their collection of photos and dates for our gallery, directly and indirectly. Some of the information we've gathered cannot be obtained anywhere else within AW anymore, especially for our Citizen Memorial area.

At entry to the world, to the left (soon to be just north and to the left) is a Community Center which showcases a tourist center to help tourists with their experience, teleports to Object Yards, and NurseMom's owned worlds. The reason we added all of her owned worlds is because she is helping us with our world with many things including the use of her object path at no cost! There is also an area there with teleports inside VR5 with the famous builds. OhioMan o has helped by importing his *HUGE* palace, as well as other aspects of the world. He also helps create objects for the world, as NurseMom does. It is a HUGE help for many different reasons.

VR5 is a public building world, however because of certain building issues, to be able to build all you have to do is contact myself (Neocube v.2) or Lioness. to get your number added to build privileges. All we ask is that you keep it PG rated.

Awards and nominations for VR5 include: 4 CY Award nominations, Best of Show award for AWExpo in 2006, a SAW award for Best Use of Innovative Technology, a Cy Award for Best Build (Nidus Gas Station) and an AWExpo Award for Best build. VR5 is treasured by many as a place to visit for exceptional builds and that will not stop. We will continue trying to win over the AW Community for years to come.
