The Active Worlds Ride Contest II:
Following on the successes and pitfalls of the first ride contest we are proud to announce The Active Worlds Ride Contest II. With smaller plots and more focused direction this should be the best looking contest so far. Contestants will receive small plots to create carnival style thrill and merriment rides. There will be no limit to the amount of plots available to a contestant, but they must have finished their previous plot before getting a new one. Each ride must have a unique name and can be created using existing or custom objects.
To enter please e-mail tom@activeworlds.com. Plots will be available starting April 5th. Building will be stopped on April 30th. Voting, for first place, will take place in AWVote.
First place will receive a $250.00 credit towards future purchases and renewals within the Active Worlds Universe, Second Place will receive a $150.00 credit towards future purchases and renewals within the Active Worlds Universe, Third Place will receive a $100.00 credit towards future purchases and renewals within the Active Worlds Universe and Fourth Place will receive a $50.00 credit towards future purchases and renewals within the Active Worlds Universe.
The Active Worlds Flickr Picture Contest:
Help spread the word of Active Worlds by sharing your Active Worlds pictures with the world. Upload your Active Worlds pics to www.flickr.com and send tom@activeworlds.com your Flickr account name. At the end of the month the three Active Worlds Citizens with the highest amount of Active Worlds picture uploads will receive $100.00 credit towards purchases from AWI.
Active Worlds Amusement Ride Contest:
Building in the Active Worlds Amusement Ride Contest is now complete. You can see these fantastic creations in the world "Rides4Us" and don't forget to vote for your favorite in the "AWVote" world. These builders are counting on you.
First place will receive a $250.00 credit towards future purchases and renewals within the Active Worlds Universe, Second Place will receive a $100.00 credit towards future purchases and renewals within the Active Worlds Universe and Third Place will receive a $50.00 credit towards future purchases and renewals within the Active Worlds Universe.
The Active Worlds Movie Contest 2:
Voting for the second Active Worlds Movie Contest has begun and you can tell us what you think now in the "AWVote" world. All movies are on display for your enjoyment.
First place will receive a P-50/20 world with tourist access and VoIP enabled. Second place will receive a P-30/10 world with tourist access. Third place will receive a P-10/5 world. All prizes will be good for 6 months.
The Active Worlds Look to the Sky Contest:
Another contest is complete and it's time for this round of winners to get their prizes. Thanks goes out to all who entered this contest and to the citizens who helped us select the winners.

AWTrivia is Back

AW@War is Back!
Come join us for the return of one of the original Active Worlds click-fests. Currently still in testing, AW@War will open every Friday night at 11pm VRT. Random prizes are occasionally available and complete prizes will be available on a weekly basis once official games begin. We currently have solo and team war games and are adding more options every week. With live DJ’ing provided by The Edge Radio, AWI staff on hand and our new lead host Brock, playing war in Active Worlds has never been so much fun.
Active Worlds 4.1 Build 973 Released
The latest Active Worlds build contains many new exciting features that we're sure you'll love. For builders, there's new environment mapping features which allow you to assign bump maps and reflection maps to objects which are correctly configured to receive them. Skinned avatars are now supported using Microsoft's .x format. We're looking forward to seeing the new path 3rd-party avatar development will take with this technology. Following the new avatar format, avatars now have their own shadows! Finally, you'll be able to look at your new avatar shadows in the new mirroring technology we've also implemented.

Looking for Volunteers - We are currently working on many new and exciting projects in the Active Worlds Universe and could use some volunteers with expertise in objects, textures, avatars, seqs and bots. Active Worlds Banners and Buttons - We are currently working on several Banners and Buttons you can use to link to or represent Active Worlds. Eventually we will have a page and world you can download these and others from, but until that time you can get them right here at http://objects.activeworlds.com/download/.
Citizenship Referral Program – Since December 1st Active Worlds has been trying a new referral program to reward citizens who are helping our community grow. When a new customer registers they will have the option of entering the Citizen Name of the person who referred them to the Active Worlds Universe. Once the new customer has been registered in Active Worlds for more than two months the Citizen that referred them will receive a free month of Citizenship.
