Metatropolis World Fest 2001

Courtesy of Metatropolis World Fest Team

Starting March 24th @ 10:00PM VRT - Get ready for 60 days of events, including Metazen history and the Build-a-Community Contest!

The Metatropolis world (CofMeta) has been there for years, well known for it's special atmosphere based on building objects that you will not find elsewhere. The streets reflecting the light from street lamps, as well as the general blue colored setting, would give associations to one of those cool "film noir" movies.

Metatropolis has been - and still is - home to many great towns and communities. In cooperation with AW Community Register and AWEC, the Metatropolis community now invites you to a 60 days long World Fest where the goal is to show you more of this exciting world. And also to give you some fun, inspiring and historical moments :) The opening will take place sometime in March!

The "Build A Community Contest"

During the entire period of Metatropolis World Fest, there will be one exciting main concept where you can participate: the "Build A Community Contest". Teams will be contesting in planning, building, organizing and running their own, brand new town in Metatropolis. Throughout the Fest, visitors will be checking on the progress, and most likely even register as citizens. The towns also need to meet some requirements during the period, such as hosting a few events as part of the Metatropolis World Fest. The winning town must be active also after the Fest has closed, and the prizes are selected to be very community related. How about your town having its own advertising board at the AWGate? Or how about being allowed to post invitations via the central Immigration Officer? The complete list of rules and prizes (several donated by AWcom Inc.) will soon be available.

Community Workshop

Do you already run a town or society in Metatropolis or elsewhere, and want some cool tips and contacts to achieve improvements? Then you should not miss the Metatropolis World Fest Workshop (phew, the events names sure are long these days... ;) !) For a couple of days, experienced community leaders, caretakers, organizers and others, will give short lessons related to planning, building and running a community! At this workshop you will get valuable input and many new ideas, but not any less important, you will make contacts with several other community leaders. The teams from the Build a Community Contest should of course be there, but we hope that also existing communities will send their representatives to the Workshop. A detailed program will soon be available.

Parties And Local Events

There's probably no need to say that you shouldn't miss the opening and closing parties that will be organized by AWEC. Besides practical World Fest information, there will most likely be contributions by the Metatropolis community as well as AW celebrities :) There will also be local events during the two months long Fest, focusing on the Metatropolis community, history and it's attractions.

Contacts

A team consisting of members from AW Community Register, the Metatropolis community and AWEC is currently working out the details, to be announced on the web soon (to be linked from most community related web sites). Information will also be found at the GZ of Metatropolis as well as other larger worlds. Teams for the Build a Community Contest will need to sign up in advance. Please contact Brooke (AWComReg) if you like to receive a contest sign-up reminder via mail, Phalaphe (AWComReg) concerning the Workshop, Jupytr as the contact for Metatropolis community matters, and contact DJ Party (AWEC) concerning the grand Events. For general questions, please contact Brooke or Bille.

See you in Meta!
